Tomorrow April 1st Is The Beginning Of Rattlesnake Hunting Season In Oklahoma, It Lasts For 3 Months….

A local news channel sent two young women reporters out to rattlesnake country with a cameraman and a game ranger to catch diamondback rattlesnakes for the first time. They had them dressed in snake boots and thigh-high snake chaps. The game ranger told them the important thing was not to fall down because there were rattlesnakes everywhere. Yikes. And he showed them how to search in the pile of boulders and rocks for rattlesnakes and how to grab them with their snake grabbers and put them in buckets. They caught several huge ones. When the video was finished they went back to the news desk with 3 other reporters and a meteorologist. The younger male reporter was bent over the desk like he was going to be sick. I think just watching that video of those women he worked with doing that was making him nauseous and faint.

I am a fan of snakes, and I believe the only snake hunting should be done with a camera. The exception is capturing enough to provide venom to produce antivenom meds.

@exexec Some of the snakes are used for anti-venom and others are used for food at rattlesnake festivals and the skin is used for belts etc.
