Wise advice. I used to do a lot of solo hiking often late into the evening while dusk was coming on. Even on a well travelled trail if it becomes late in the evening you never know if you will not be the last one on the trail. Now I think it would be more helpful before you left. I imagine without a signal if you go to change your voicemail message and you are without signal the message will not become updated.
