If I planted stinging nettles

We have a problem with skunks and rats around here, also raccoons. If I rip out the garden along the fence and plant tons of stinging nettles do you think that would keep them from hiding underneath? Is there something better for this?

The best thing is to put up some tall fences; the fact is that most American houses don't have protective structures around them, which I find surreal.
