Any tips for catching a garden rat ?

Got traps included a sonic trap which unfortunately killed a squirrel first....nothing is working.

Poison .I put a cube out in a plastic container with some chocolate. Never saw the rat again .i hated it , attacked a blackbird feeding on the lawn .
