Baking soda and peanut butter. About a 20% baking soda mixed into a good sized blob of peanut butter.

@revenant put it in a covered container with an opening for the rat to crawl through.

@revenant Rats are intelligent, that’s the biggest problem in dealing with them. People say “I smell a rat” but in truth they smell us when we are up to getting them.

@cherokeepatti they seem to be telepathic I swear

@revenant They can be trained to sniff out mines so they can be destroyed, that’s how intelligent they are.

@cherokeepatti Im lucky to have a dog that sniffs them out. I cut back all the bushes and get rid of places that gives them cover. Usually the barn owls do a good job of nabbing them but I haven't seen any this year.

@revenant My brother would probably be sitting out there waiting all night with a pellet gun.
I have my own caddy shack experience going on with one that travels from my neighbors yard to my yard. The dog is in at night so this is when the rat comes out to do his damage.
I have set up a few Vietnam booby traps and caught a few small mice and lizards but no rats.
