Anybody have advice on growing grapes? We're considering adding a few grape vines, but we've also heard they require a lot of work. Anybody have experience and willing to share?

We have had grapes since I was in school. Not sure of the type dad planted but they always had grapes on the vines. Some have died off, haven't done anything but cut them back a few times.
Thinking they are concord.

@LookingForIt987: I always did it when we started mowing grass, so now.
I've seen grapes growing for wineries trimmed back alot. So I'm "guessing" they survive alot of cutting.

this article talks about growing grapes in a big pot instead of vines. It looks a little easier.

@LookingForIt987: You're welcome hun. Just look on Pinterest. You can find anything on Pinterest. I have a gardening board on there.

I have some experience with wine grapes. My husband and I have managed a small vineyard for the last 11 years. It's easier to help with specific questions. Message me

@dulcedona Thanks. I'll keep that in mind - no specific questions at the moment; they went in the ground back in May, so it's been pretty easy so far. :)

regular sacrifices to Dionysus are always good.

I tried, but it's a big failure

@GHOSTT We're doing OK with them overall. We expect to be able to harvest fruit this year, after letting the vines grow through the arbor we built the past two seasons. We ended up with a few bunches last year, but they never quite ripened. So hopefully this summer...
