I have been reading how good gardening is for us, not only fresh air and fresh food, bees and butterflies (if we are lucky), physical activity and connecting to nature, but for underlying things like stress. While birds sing, I feel stress shedding off every time I’m out there.🌷🌷🌷🌷 It also works as an antidote to disheartening news reports, I planted some lettuce and spinach to start with as I have never grown my own veg before.

I've gone all in this year (almost) the weeds are winning, the birds and insects are slyly having a dig so I'm losing cabbage seedlings etc. I've managed to keep the cats off so far. Had my first strawberry today! What's working? Broad beans are flowering ok. A few mange tout are showing (they seem way easier than peas for some reason) I have a one metre square with 4 beetroot seedlings hoping more will show eventually. Runner beans just starting to show up. Strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, and black currents flowering nicely. Potatoes showing where I planted them and almost everywhere else in the garden! Not taking them up those are freebies. Round courgette plants are looking well and there are some cucumber plants looking ok. Have about 6 tomato plants in pots. I should just make a video really but then you'd see the weeds. I did an hour of weeding tonight. Got to say about yours everything looks to be growing beautifully.
@GeniUs I also had many weeds, raking them up did no good in the long run so I bought some rock salt to put down and that polished them off never to return.
@seasonedspirit but doesn't that make the ground unusable (although I might try this on my drive) I'm just nipping out to put some dishwasher salt down see what that does.
