Rotten potatoes smell so bad
KingFeeder · 36-40, M
@Nebula that is true! Best use them before they go to waste.
Nebula · 41-45, F
@KingFeeder I like the little gold ones the best
KingFeeder · 36-40, M
@Nebula the bite sized ones??? Yummy!

They wont grow.. they’ve been modified so you’re forced back to the supermarket to buy more..
You want seed potatoes from a nursary for best luck 👍
KingFeeder · 36-40, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout but, they sprouted... :(
@KingFeeder yup.. I fell for that a few times.. they’ll even get nice big green stems.. but no spuds 😞
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout your correct on certain types of potatoes. Not all of them are GMO potatoes.

If they are out of season, they are not grown in the USA. So likely they are not GMO potatoes.

Winter time potatoes are imported. Say like Argentina where it's warm during our winter. Argentina is not going to buy USA potato seeds from the USA. And they don't have the technology for anything GMO.

BTW it's why China buys Argentine potatoes. They refuse to buy our potatoes.

Don’t plant them…they won’t likely grow at all, plus even if they do, they’re full of toxins

You’re better off buying proper seed potatoes and then keep some of your own harvest for future crops!!
You’ll have your own heirlooms in just a couple of seasons 😊
KingFeeder · 36-40, M
@ImpeccablyImperfect I didn't even think about the possibility of toxins! :o
Barny52 · 56-60, M
They will grow just plant them and wait 3 months for earlys and 4 months for main crops
KingFeeder · 36-40, M
@Barny52 thanks, I'll try it.
GeniUs · 56-60, M
Make the soil as soft as possible (rake, sieve, etc) Mound the soil up around the stem as it grows upwards doesn't matter if you cover the leaves but always leave some green out of the top of the soil.
KingFeeder · 36-40, M
@GeniUs thanks!!!
fun4us2b · M
Cut them in halves or quarters depending on size with an eye in each (don't cut eyes) then plant
KingFeeder · 36-40, M
@fun4us2b thanks, good idea!
Thatsright · 61-69, M
Eyes seen it before
KingFeeder · 36-40, M
Throw them in good soil
