Well, going fishing, really. Im being driven to the lake right now. To be honest though, I'm really scared. I'm an animal lover of sorts, and I really really really don't want to hurt any fish. If we were going to eat them in the end, I'd feel a little better, since I eat meat all the time, but we're not. We're just gonna catch em and release em.

I suppose it's good we don't plan to kill them and just pretend it never happened, but wouldn't the books hurt the poor fish? I don't want to just injure a fish and throw it back while its still in pain. It just seems so terrible and I don't want to do it Some say fish don't feel pain cause of their undeveloped brains, but I don't think that's true.

I wouldn't have gone, but my parents made me because its for a merit badge for Boy Scouts. I convinced them to not make me go, but then I had second thoughts. I called and said I do want to go, but then changed my mind a few minutes later. They already told the other guys to wait though and my dad was coming to pick me up, so I had no choice.

I dont want to hurt any fish, I really don't. I don't think I'm gonna like this trip.
When I go fishing, I don't use any bait.
Same reasons as yourself. I don;t care to hurt something needlessly.
Though,I see no reason to beat yourself up over it. Fishing is a lot of fun when you don;t catch a thing.

If I hook a sharp loop of metal through your lip while you're swimming and pull you out of the water to take the hook out and then throw you back into the water, will it hurt?

You're gonna have a great time !

I am an animal lover, but I LOVE to fish.
If you "catch and release", it doesn't hurt them a bit.
(some say it makes them smarter for the next time ) :-)

Fish gives off NH3 when it releases wastes in the water and the nitrifying bacteria converts the ammonia to NH4+

I don't know why it wouldn't hurt them. Plus, if they bleed, they're more vulnerable to predators.

sharp pointy hooks will hurt... try catching them barehanded
