Just got back from a mini camping break with my daughter

The main object was to give the tent an airing and check out before our longer holiday in August.

We camped on my client's farm in Exmoor. Complete seclusion apart from the wild horses and deer. A beautiful winding stream to swim in.

We went straight on from gymnastics yesterday. My daughter, who had packed her own bag, was in a minimalist mood:

* Toothbrush (but no toothpaste)
* Swimsuit
* Travel Scrabble board
* Mrs Nibble, her soft rabbit for sleeping with 🐰

No change of clothes, no pyjamas, no washbag . . (her current notion of freedom appears to involve not washing 🥴)

We cheated by picking up dinner from the supermarket, her choice: a big sushi box, cheese and onion crisps, chocolate pudding, lemonade.

Intensive girls' talk until just before 9pm when the girl doing all the talking fell asleep on top of me and I shuffled her with some difficulty into the tent. Up bright and early at 5.30am (why do I have the only teenager in the world who doesn't lie in on a weekend?) for a swim (one way of getting her to wash) and breakfast as the sun slowly rose.

Back home now with half the day still to look forward to 🙂

How old is your little one and mine is 10 and she would never pack so little of stuff not that she would take the right stuff but still never so little and not the same stuff your daughter brought except for the swimsuit and I'm glad y'all had an enjoyable time maybe you should do it one or two more times so she's used to a longer trip when you use it in the fall

@dale74 13. She likes taking responsibility for her things, but gets easily distracted! I knew she would, but we were only away for a short time, so no problem 🙂
