@IndianaJoes Boo-Boo and Ike talk to each other sometimes. Usually it’s Ike complaining because they can’t have human food when we are sitting at the table eating. Ike will start saying “What do we get?” Or “What do we have?” Over and over while staring at us eating. He threw a fit one night and yelled “Thank You!” For about 15 minutes after saying it. I told Ike if he didn’t want to see us eating our dinner to turn around so he didn’t have to watch. He did turn around but would see him turning his head to keep peeking at us. I’ve told him to turn around several times and now he either does it automatically…or he’ll scoot over close to Boo-Boo’s cage and say “Parakeet, What do we have? What do we get?” He likes to stir Boo-Boo up so that he’ll join in. One day I heard Boo-Boo saying “Are you sleeping” over and over and looked over. Ike was asleep with his head under his wings. I told Boo-Boo to stop talking to Ike and let him sleep…and he did.
@cherokeepatti maybe you can invite them to dinner but give them a sesame seed bun that they can share.

@IndianaJoes they get some Romaine lettuce if we have salad. I wish they weren’t so picky about foods, some parakeets will eat apple slices, grapes, etc. I could get some dark bread and make them dry toast and let them tear that up. Had one female who would get anxious in the winter and I made her toast and slid it in between the bars of the her cage and she went to town on it.
@cherokeepatti of course, and most birds like seeds and bread based products. I used to have parakeets when I was a young child. I don't remember all the eating details of them but they sure did like sesame seed buns. I'm raising chickens and chickens are a bird that will eat anything. Chickens especially love mosquitoes mosquito eggs bugs earthworms and insects. But they really like table straps too. As far as feeding a parakeet food that they love but might be potentially dangerous... I'd have to study about that because I don't remember all the details. But like most animals, there are some foods they like it's not good for them.
