Working with the goats 🐐 alone today!

Krizstina my girlfriend has a call from the agency she works through, she might be out all day! If it’s something that she needs to think about she’s probably going to come home.

Yesterday we had a fairly busy day reorganising our barn, getting the bales down so we can order some more to get us through the winter and into next Spring. The price is much higher because so much of it comes from Ukraine and it’s held up again this year.

We found some, but we had to pay premium prices. Not good for our profitability and we might have another lean year. We kept our kids this year to raise our herd numbers, but that means higher long term costs.

How big is the herd? I've zero experience in raising animals as a means of income, but I'd think long-term, growing the herd is a smart move for the future success of the farm.

@Panna are they raised for their milk, or meat?
Panna · 22-25, F
@samueltyler2 We use their milk, and we make cheese. Only when their production recedes do we sell them for meat.

@Panna I love goat cheese, but to many, it is an acquired taste. Do you do all of the processing?

We have a great local farm. Here is some images, from one of my albums. I have to look for the actual cheese images

But also an investment in bigger herd

do you raise anything else or just goats? I visited a vineyard in Spain. There goats ate the weeds around the vines and fertilized the soil at the same time. That seemed such a great idea.
Post pics to prove it

@mysteryespresso Says someone who is almost completely anonymous here and could possibly be a worthless contact

Sounds very busy, but productive.
