I wish I had a yard or patio where I could sit and watch the birds and have a bird bath out there. I'd have all kinds of things out there. Especially a flower garden. I have plants inside but it's just not the same. But I'm glad you have one. That will be so lovely to sit outside and watch them. I love watching the birds, squirrels and all the other animals that might come. Especially hummingbirds. I'd have a hummingbird feeder out there as well.

@meggie This is my 3rd try - I've had flowers, and I love how dense and bright they are, but late in the season, so I started early when I realized they like cooler weather. The seeds are so odd looking,...hopefully it starts to stay nearer to 60 so I can leave everything outside...

@fun4us2b i got calendula as the squirrels are not supposed to like them. They eat a lot of the flower buds in the garden

@meggie Exactly! Last year a Chipmunk was watching me watch him as he contently chomped away on a flower...I was like "Hey, you don't like those" He had no idea what I was talking about...

Oh I love that. That's beautiful. But beware of one thing I wouldn't put it near the patio doors because you may just end up with a pile of bird droppings that can get slippery and messy and be very unattractive and eventually end up stinking. Especially for kids, not good. You'll have to be patient because they'll be scared of it at first but that is absolutely beautiful. What a find. Congratulations.

I have a full-size human bath in my yard which I'm going to make into a herb garden!
That’s a beautiful one

@soulrespite it is. I love watching the garden birds

I would love to have a heavy bird bath the type with a concrete stand and concrete top that could be scrubbed out really good. The neighbor lady across the street had one but she and her husband moved over a year ago. I would have offered to buy it from her if I knew that they were moving. They left it in the front yard and it’s not there any more.

I have 3 Birdbaths out there - and this ridiculous bunch of Sparrows comes back every year. They are such funny social birds.

meggie · F
@fun4us2b we get sparrows, robins, woodpeckers, blue tits etc. I use the Merlin app to identify them.
fun4us2b · M
@meggie Same - it works pretty well!
exexec · 70-79, C
Yes, and birds use it regularly. The blue jays enjoy splashing all the water out of it.
@exexec

Go Blue Jays!
Ooo what a find

I had one but i accidentally broke it trying to knock dirt off the end of it it just snapped apart .. i just have a plate on top of our well house now that the bird use .. i haven't been filling it lately tho i should go do that tomorrow .. i meant to buy a larger plate for them but i keep forgetting
I think a bitd bath would be a bit small for me
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
I have one but it’s not concrete. I would love to have a concrete one that stays cooler in the summer and doesn’t tip over easily in the wind.
Nothing like that, but we have a dog water bowl outside and the birds use it. Have to change the water every couple of days as it gets filled with all kinds of things they eat, like worm parts and slugs and dirt.
You could mount a camera pointing at it and watch them from home or when at work.

@PoohSmasher i do have cameras in tye back garden and didnt think of that thanks.
