Today the temperature reached 40 degrees

My suburb was 105 degrees.
Tomorrow I am off down south to Mandurah for a week.
I have several Geraniums in small pots outside. In the summer, these plants need watering twice a day as they are subject to the full force of the afternoon sun for at least 5 hours.
I have decided to bring them inside and place them in the laundry tub which has plant food dissolved in the water.

Get two tubs one larger than the other. The larger one fill a quarter of the depth with water. Place about six quarter inch risers in the tub with water. Something that won't float.

The smaller tub, make approximately a dozen half inch holes. Now get some thick wicks about the same thickness as the holes about four inches long.

Now stuff the wicks through the holes about half way through and surround the wicks inside of the smaller tub with potting soil.

Place the smaller tub in the larger one with water and risers. The wicks will draw the water into the soil just enough to keep it damp.

This was my father's trick when he went anywhere for long periods of time.
