@Nitedoc If you're into any forging, old leaf springs are good knife material

@wildbill83 Oh yeah, that's some of the best steel for knife making. I have made a few knives from leaf springs, but they are getting hard to find.

@wildbill83 I've heard of people doing that but I never have. One of my favorite knife materials is simply an industrial hack saw blade. These are bigger, a lot stiffer and thicker than standard hack saw blades. No forging needed. Just careful stock removal on a bench grinder. Dip it in a water bucket when it gets hot. These blade fit into a machine are used to cut steel pipe and bars with. The blades keep their original temper and will hold an edge as well as any forged blade I have seen.
