Has anyone grown pumpkins before

I've tried butternut squash and had no luck, so giving pumpkins a try this year. They should look like these if they do mature.

Yes, I've grown them before. Make sure they have plenty of room because the vines get huge

@Tumbleweed they have good soil and a sunny patch of about 3m x 2m for 2 plants, plus a picket fence to grow up.

@meggie Mine were just on the ground, I've never tried to get them to climb. When the pumpkins appear, make sure to turn them every so often to one side doesn't rot

@Tumbleweed i didn't know that. Thanks.
@Tumbleweed Yes. Climbing pumpkins would take down most small fences but would also tend to have the fruit pull off the vine early and destroy the vine!

@SomeMichGuy Yes! Mine stayed on the ground and had ALOT of room!

@SomeMichGuy I visited a couple of National Trust properties (stately homes with gardens) and they were growing butternut squashes on trellises, so I wasn't sure. I will leave these on the ground, as you are right, they would destroy the vines.
@meggie Wait! JUST BUY A NATIONAL TRUST PROPERTY ALREADY SUCCESSFULLY GROWING SQUASH!

Problem solved. 😉🤣🤣🤣

@SomeMichGuy i don't have millions or want one. But they have very interesting gardens.
@meggie I was offering an impractical solution to a practical problem just for giggles. 😉
