I ventured into the Aussie bush today and was delighted with a couple of beauties

In my 62 years I have never seen a Spotted Pardalote. The moment I walked into the bush, there on the ground was this beauty.
I knew instantly what it was because the small spots stood out, saying “look at me”

Made my day. Just seeing this bird for the first time really pleased me. To get a couple of photos was a bonus.

I walked further into the bush and could hear a Parrot chattering. I wondered what parrot it would be.
Suddenly a bird flew from the ground onto a tree branch less than 20 metres from me. Oh glory be, a Western Rosella Parrot was before my eyes.
These stunners live only in South West Western Australia.

A little while later I almost trod on this young Blue Tongue Lizard sunning itself. It had flattened it’s body to expose more of itself for the sun to heat.

I got the species wrong in regards the Spotted Pardalote. It is a Red-Eared Firetail.

I have seen one of those Western Rosella's flying around here and had it identified. The local National Parks Ranger thinks it must have been a cage escape because certainly not from this part of South Australia.

@KiwiBird Stunning bird.
I wonder what will happen with the one you saw. No other to breed with, maybe.

@Gusman It was somewhat friendly so maybe someone caught it....or else became cat food I suspect.

Was the spotted bird a male?

No way to tell males and females apart.

@TexChik No way to tell differentiate between male and female of this particular bird.
Many species are different when it comes to boy or girl bird. 🙂
