upside down mushrooms growing in a tree stump

neat thing i noticed yesterday while taking a break along the river...i've been collecting edibles for a while now and tho i can't identify which species these are exactly, it's the first instance i've come upon where they were oriented like this...

kinda neat, anyhow

Green leafed plants respond to phototropism. That means they grow towards sunlight. Mushrooms grow of decomposing plant matter so they can grow in the dark. That also means that they can grow in any direction as long as they can release their spores.

Nature is awesome!

They will grow more and then turn so that the caps point upward, allowing them to dump their spores. Fleshy should be "blooming" , and with the cooler temperatures coming, you may be in an excellent area to see many different species.
