One of the best dogs my uncle had was a German shepherd who would corner and shake snakes. He was so quick that they would snap into a hundred bits. They lived in copperhead country where the copperheads were thick…my sister got bit by one when we were burning a really large brush pile that had been sitting on the rural property for the summer months. It crawled out from the burning pile and bit her on the ankle.

If you chop a snakes head off they live for a few minutes and can still bite you.
