The USA will host billions of cicadas in 2024

The 17 year brood and the 13 year brood will both emerge this summer. The last time this happened was 1803.

Seems Florida won't be experiencing this rare double decibel event, but we do have cicadas here. As deafening as their calls often are, I find it comforting...hearing them.

@Piper Not even the cicadas want anything to do with Florida, lol.

@LordShadowfire Yeah...hahaha. The visitors this time of year and increasing population of permanent residents says otherwise, but okay.

@Piper I don't want to get into an argument on this post, so I'll just say that if you want to discuss this further, there's a section for that.

@LordShadowfire There would be no "argument" from me, defending the politics and many other things about this state I ended up back in. The fact that many people continue to visit and move here, though, is indisputable.

@Piper Okay, so then I guess the big question is why. These must be people who agree with politics in Florida? Or do they just not care, so long as they get to live in a tropical climate?

@LordShadowfire There are many people in Florida who agree with the current reigning political power, but many still, who do not. There are many people here, who fight to preserve the health and beauty of the remaining 'natural' places...including trees that cicadas fill.

If YOU want to discuss this further, maybe submit a post about it or something.
