I think Tech companies have been hugely over valved. A correction is taking place.

@badminton A lot of it is also due to "pandemic hiring" in which all these companies added more work-from-home employees during the pandemic because people were online more than ever. That bubble has burst.
@TallMtnMedic it was the tech companies that wanted him, the old saying be careful what you wish for because it just might come true 👍

As the paper profits are drying up the real value jobs will remain.. But in a "service economy" there is going to be a lost of suffering in the pipeline..😷

@checkoutanytime Yes. although I beg to differ on Boomers being the root cause. Nixon abandoned the Gold standard (That was the basis of the world compact for using $US as a global trade currency) Reagan deregulated banks to allow then to "gamble" as opposed to invest. and some bright Wall street spark decided maney was a commodity that could be produced and traded. That and a few bubbles gave the world the Global Financial crisis, which taught America nothing, and they have been priniting money ever since..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman the damage was done with W.Wilson and establishing the Federal Reserve. That has pampered to the Federal workers ONLY! * proof- see above text.

@checkoutanytime The Fed set up is weird and its rules are even weirder. I have studied it and I still dont understand how it continues to exist.. The Government should own the currency. And America doesnt..😷

No, it’s called preparing for downturn by cutting your overheads. It’s a normal business practice.

It also happened during the last GER in 2008-2010 which was caused by people defaulting on their home loans that were bought with 0% interest and $0 in the bank.
Amazon is losing over 10000 employees, so its not just tech.

Sometimes this happens though, especially in tech as companies dont want to pay year end bonuses. At least the several I deal with do. They get hired in January again with a slight raise, thrn let go November or esrly December.
