Possum invasion thwarted

Our beagle/terrior mix was going nuts outside, so I went to check. There was a possum on the back fence. I shooed the invader away, but the puppy is convinced there must be many more out there. She won't stop barking and prowling the yard. Maybe a treat will work.

I hate those big rats! Yuck. I had one sneaking into my barn at night over the summer. They can carry bugs that are dangerous to horses' health.

@LeeInTheNorthWoods possums can eat a thousand ticks a night and they can take 80 hits from a coral or rattlesnake without being killed. They also kill snakes and do not carry rabies. Possums are a good animal and are not related to rats.

@Baremine Yes, I know possums are marsupials and not rodents. And, yes, I'm sure they play a beneficial role in nature. I was half-joking in my response. But their feces carry a parasite that can be fatal to horses, and they must be kept away from barns and feed storage places.

And, they're ugly as sin. 😉

But your point is well taken.
