It’s the little things that make a difference

Today has been a really shit day, but it’s George’s birthday so I cheered myself up by throwing him a party.

I don't like the way humans insist on forcing human customs on animals to make themselves feel better. Dogs don't celebrate birthdays.

@MarkPaul take your misery and show yourself out

@SW-User Rude

@MarkPaul so was your judgemental comment
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@SW-User Well that wasn't my intention. I just don't like people disrespecting animals by putting them into these human situations.

@MarkPaul it’s not disrespect. He’s had the best day with new toys, extra treats and people giving him love. What does it matter if he doesn’t understand why or the concept of ageing? How is him being extra spoilt one day of the year doing any harm? And if it helps me feel better how exactly is it wrong?

@SW-User It has nothing to do with aging or recognizing your appreciation for him being in your life. Dressing up a dog with a foolish hat and forcing him to parade and prance around in it to satisfy your ego is as inhumane as making an elephant perform stupid little tricks to please the crowd or locking a whale inside an aquarium to do up-and-down nodding so a paying audience can be satisfied that its anatomically positioned mouth is smiling with joy and happiness or drugging a lion so that insensitive humans can walk up to it and pet and hug it without fear of being eaten under the illusion the lion likes being in that situation and loves that kind of attention.

@MarkPaul The dog is loved ,thats all that matters.

@Jamesy It looks like you want that to be the truth, but like the drugged lion who hugs people, wearing a birthday party hat isn't evidence of love. That's not to say he isn't loved, but a forced and human-defined adorable pose lacks substantive proof.
