Sadly .. there are people in the US that are going hungry.
My wife teaches and a number of kids in every class would routinely miss some meals during the week if not receiving school provided breakfast /lunches/snacks. Their families are struggling to meet all their bills.
There are elderly people struggling on social security to have enough nutricious food.
@IronHamster I dont care what bs you want to call.
Not every state is Oregon and these programs differ state to state based on the finances in each as to what, if any, the state supplements to the federal money. Go to the poorest places in Applachia, the rural south, etc and you'll see it. Not everyone who needs help gets it or gets enough. Some are too proud to take public aid and go through cycles of ups and downs of income or hardship that make the need come and go. Wake up.
@IronHamster Dude .. its been there forever. I"m not a lib .. not blind either. I know both that there is fraud and slackers leeching off of aid .. and .. that there are people that legit need help.

@BrandNewMan I am not saying there is no need for assistance. I am saying that starvation isn't something that happens in the US, and most children that go hungry are being raised by horrible parents that are selling their food assistance.
Food assistance, currently, can be used for candy, soda, and chips. One can even buy edible panties on Amazon with an EBT. Then you also have the character in the grocery store parking lot that offers to buy $100 of groceries for $50 cash.
