We live in a constitutional Republic. We have elections and choose our leaders.
@FreeSpirit1 So does Russia. Vladimir Putin is an elected president.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@flipper1966 so? What’s your point? You asked a question and I answered.

@flipper1966

nope !

Russia and the United States differ significantly in their political systems, economies, and cultural norms. While Russia operates as an authoritarian, centralized state, the U.S. is a federal republic with decentralized power. Economically, the U.S. has a vastly larger and more diverse economy than Russia's, which is heavily reliant on natural resources

I'm one of those traditionalists who believe it's a representative republic. But whatever it is, it's in danger from a wannabe dictator. :'(
Bonby · 61-69, M
@ChipmunkErnie no the Dems are out for now
LinuxBreaksWindows · 26-30, M
Nope, I thought it was pretty rich for trump to make fun of Erdoğan for stealing the election when that's exactly what Trump did in 2016.

@LinuxBreaksWindows

Is that right genius. How did he do that?
LinuxBreaksWindows · 26-30, M
@Thrust Dont ask me, ask Putin.
The current government is clearly trying to make it something else, bit by bit. But at least for the moment, we still have a Constitution.
@bookerdana True, that.

@bijouxbroussard We still have a constitution. So does Russia, whose constitution's words protect freedom of the press! 🤣

Really? How so?

US is a democratically elected republic
swirlie · 31-35
Americans never lived in a democracy in the first place. The USA was originally set up as a Democratic Republic but no longer holds the values inherent of a true Republic. The Republican Party of America has been hijacked by an Authoritarian fascist Ruler, which means the US is now a two-party system comprised of the Democratic Party and the MAGA Party. The Republican Party no longer exists in principle.

Next election they will be a Democrat who will undo everything Trump has done so just relax freaks.
