@BigGuy2 The USA didnt go to was to stop the Holocaust. That was one of the benefits of stopping the Nazis, but overall I believe both Stalin and Mao killed more people, so was that okay because both were "equal oportunity" murderers?
As for the claim the USA went to war to end slavery, that's reaching! Again one of the consequences of the war was the ending of slavery.
Nb it is often the case that some good, and bad, consequences come from the result of wars, that were not the intent, or the reason, the combatants went to war.

@22Michelle NOPE ... the Civil War was to end Slavery - nothing more, nothing less

It WASN'T to stop the Holocaust at all - Japan bombed Pearl Harbour on 7/12/41, so causing America to declare War on Japan, Japan wa nominally an Allie of Germany, i believe it was Germany that declared War on the US 1st

The US wasn't at War with Russia or China, when they murdered their own people ... BUT who's saying it was OK

@BigGuy2 The Civil war was about the Southern slave states seceding, and they started the war. Slavery was a driver of the tension between the North and South, but it was aboug the South losing political and eonomic power. Lincoln becoming President without Southern support was one of the main causes. If ending slavery was the cause, and aim, of the war you'd have to be able to prove Lincoln, and the Northern states were bent on not only ending slavery, butvpreparing to use military force to do so.
Nb I think that many in the North wanted an end to slavery, but wanted it achieved through long term political and economic means.
