American Firearm Fascination...

What is the idea behind Americans fascination with guns ?
Another mass shooting....you know where else in the world they have civilian based mass shooting ?
Nowhere....

Yours truly, Neighbour from the North
U.S. citizen here…and I have no idea why we’re different. You folks have as many guns as we do, and yet you’re managing not to shoot up movie theaters, shopping malls, subways, places of employment, beauty salons, nightclubs, schools…

But we also have the National Rifle Association, who basically sponsors one of our political parties.

They’re dedicated to making certain that nobody is deprived of a weapon, whether the town wants them or not, whether the person is mentally sound or not. So while we go back and forth about what our First Amendment (free speech and expression) may or may not include, on our Second Amendment (the right to bear arms) we never waver.

Our conservatives may not understand what we have to say. But they will defend our Constitutional right to get shot for saying it. 😳
@bijouxbroussard I completely understand where younare coming from.
Slight correction if you will...there is no other place on this earth that has as many guns per civilian or in total as there are in the USA.

How many countries do you know that would do this:

... I saw this for the first time last week, and it's one of the most American things I've ever seen.

@Kwek00 50 years ago. Just four and a half years before my time. The town of Florence has never lived that down.

@LordShadowfire If you watch American shows, a lot of them have stuff blowing up. Pawn Stars, they don't buy a gun before they know that it works. And then they go to the range and one of the guys bring targets that blow up if you hit them. Myth Busters blow stuff up constantly. I bet if Forged in Fire had the opportunity they would blow their ballistic mannequins up too, but now they only fill them with fake blood so that everyone can watch the carnage happen. I remember sitting in the Grayhound station waiting for the bus in Atlanta, and there was an arcade machine that promoted the American militairy that had a big gun that was shooting at "terrorists". Maybe it's just my impression, but American pop culture is way more violent then most other western countries I'm knowledgeable off.

I’m in USA and I can’t really grasp why so many love guns so much, I have always found them repulsive. How can so many dense people enjoy inflicting the kind of damage to another person that crude weapon is capable of? Dense and self centered individuals are often gun freaks.
Not wanting to be shot by someone else? ... Maybe someday different things will be important to people and there won't be fighting. 😓
It is due in large part to a misunderstanding of the second Amendment to the United States Constitution.

Yes and our elected officials think that it will be solved by having easier access, unchecked, to more guns.
@JaggedLittlePill how long before the idea of arming transit workers get floated as a solution???
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@3firefighter Too late. Marjorie Greene already made claim that the NYC incident wouldn't have happened if someone had only had a gun and shot into a smoke filled subway car.

But also they were calling for teachers to be armed long ago.
