About Calvin C. Broadus Jr., aka Snoop Dogg…

Reportedly receiving a bit of flack for performing at Trump’s pre-inaugural gala. He wasn’t the only rapper who did, but in 2017 he said:

Pretty harsh, but a lot of us agreed with him. So last month, when that particular "chicken" came home to roost, I wondered what he was going to say.

A lot of us wondered, what changed ? Did he need the money (unlikely) ? Did Trump make him an offer he couldn’t refuse ? Was it some way to help the community (since he’s said that’s important to him) ?

This was the first reply I found:

Lame as hell, full of senseless bragging and (imo) just screams "hypocrite". I wasn’t really a fan, so I have no works of his to throw away or burn, but I do think considerably less of him.

So the insults of 2017 were not in fact, him taking a stand as a black man on something important to our community.

Apparently it was just him "pulling down other black people", by his own admission, because he didn’t mean any of it. 😒

I've seen a lot of that, from people of every ethnicity who should know better. Lest we forget, the man who is now his loyal vice president once called him the American Hitler. I legitimately don't understand the hold that man has on people. Even my dad, who has been stubbornly, insistently following Ukraine war news, even as the news cycle has moved on, is now saying things like, "Well, Trump has a point, why should the US be the only country paying for their defense?" Like he actually thinks that's true that we're the only country helping them.

Regarding Snoop in particular, he's always been an entrepreneur, shall we say. He partnered with Martha Stewart of all people. The ultimate tradwife, to use the current slang. I don't think he necessarily buys what Trump is selling, but if it sells, he'll sell it.
