Nationality

Many SW members hiding names and faces to ensure anonymity is understandable. But even nationality? Do they really expect to be traced from the nations population? 😀

I think this is stretching it too far. Others might need to know the location to understand the culture better.

Are we not pushing it too far by hiding nationality for anonymity?

People should share as much as they are comfortable sharing. However, I have found that when I looked at a profile and saw a nationality, it did help me understand a person’s perspective better in the comments. We may all be human, but we have different cultures which effects individual beliefs and values.

@Carissimi sometimes it helps, sometimes not. When someone is speaking about gun control, i would like to know whether they are American. Same with abortion laws.
However when someone is talking about the weather or climate, one can feel curious about whether it is Europe or the States. Opinions on Ukraine is another topic that is better understood when you know what they are fed by the local media.
Even religion is understood differently by different people from different regions. One can avoid hurting sentiments and stepping on toes if one knows.
Just some examples.
