@Punxi It came around as hip hop was overtaking R&B as the dominant urban sound. Once trap production became the template, R&B adapted to that style but neo soul, which relies on live instrumentation, doesn’t translate easily into that minimal 808-driven sound. It gradually became more niche and less mainstream.
