Hallelujah John Cale

[media=https://youtu.be/-gi3J8nPKPE]

Rufus Wainright did my favorite version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah.

But then I read a newspaper article praising John Cale's version.

It is good. Though the video is--odd. I still prefer Wainright, but I'm going to have to watch this again and think about the worms or caterpillars.

@JoyfulSilence I'll bet he really likes the worms!

@Poppies

As the song says, he is not here for the music!

The worms go in, the worms go out, ....

@Ontheroad I've seen/heard this before! It is very beautiful. But it does not seem as passionate, as expressive as Wainwright's version. Wainwright 's version seems to be a fairly straightforward narrative in my head.

@Poppies I can see that, very straightforward but for me, not the passion i get from this group. That's the thing about music, different tunes and singers hit us differently.
Good performance, but the bugs? I don't get it.

@WonderGirl1 weird!
@Poppies I looked on youtube for other versions. A few good ones but so many people who shouldn't have sung this song.

This one was recorded during lockdown and made me very happy 🙂
