Simon & Garfunkel, "The Sound of Silence” (1965)

The original. It reminds me so much of my childhood and the things that were going on then. I still love it more as folk music from the 60s than as modern metal.

I'm with you 100%. Many people today seem to prefer Disturbed's version. I like it, but for me, the best version will always be the original one by Simon & Garfunkel.
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
Yes, as much as I can appreciate Disturbed's version, I still prefer the original.

Great song and I loved the movie.

@exexec I remember hearing it growing up. My parents loved that song.
@exexec It’s funny how many nowadays don’t even know about “The Graduate". Back then, it introduced a lot of people to S&G’s music.

Love this quote...Music, at its essence, is what gives us memories. And the longer a song has existed in our lives, the more memories we have of it. Stevie Wonder.💕big fan of folk & all music TY for sharing in mine too. Wishing you a ☮️Day & night.
@OceanRoses Thank you & likewise. 🤗

Great song.

Have you heard this harsher, haunting version? I prefer just listening without watching the accompanying video which takes away from the song for me

@TrunkZ Looks like it's just you and me against the rest. I like Disturbed's version better. It seems to fit the dark undertone of the lyrics in a way the S&G's folk style never could.
@RosaMarie It depends on whose post you’re on. There are lots of fans of Disturbed’s cover, and they post about it. I wanted to post about the original song, which meant a great deal to me.

@RosaMarie I appreciate both versions. The original was great. Disturbed's version is chilling and generates all kinds of different emotions, making it great to me as well. I would go so far as to say the latter helped me better appreciate the original.

I have a deep personal connection to this tune.
@Carla So do I.
Part of the soundtrack of my teenage years; thanks!!

A song that is part of my history .
It moves me.
I loved this song.
RosaMarie · 41-45, F
I like that version. But when Disturbed did it, then the song moved my soul.
@RosaMarie That’s the original. Paul Simon wrote it with his vision. Disturbed interpreted it based upon theirs.

@bijouxbroussard I know. My comment didn't say any different.
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
I love the original too. We sang this in my HS choir ...it was pretty awesome.
@JaggedLittlePill Very cool ! 😃
