"Not To Touch The Earth" (live 1968)

I wish this kind of music had been possible without the drug use that fueled its creation; alas, I’m not sure it was…

Almost all the rock bands of the time used drugs. With Jim it seemed to be a lust for life that could not be slaked by anything, and alcohol probably contributed as much to his instability as anything else.

I guess we can just appreciate the music and poetry he left behind as a legacy

From what I've learned in books and documentarties, the 60's, particularily the later part of the decade was a pretty weird time in terms of art, music, fashion and film.

@bijouxbroussard yeah, kids like myself spent a lot of time away from their families or alone. Compared to the 50s. As my brother once told me.

Latch key baby here.
@DeWayfarer So was I, and I was the oldest so I would stop by the neighbors to collect my brother and middle sister and take them home before our parents arrived.

@bijouxbroussard my half brother was the next youngest and 16 years older than me.

I was truly by myself.
