I just watched all of these because they reminded me of a particular time when I was at school. The only one I hadn't heard of was the Cowsills. I find their video somewhat unsettling, but I can't work out why. Everything was so simple before MTV. 😀

@FreddieUK I’m not sure if you watched the U.S. tv show The Partridge Family (Shirley Jones, David Cassidy) back then ? The Cowsills were the actual family that show was based upon.
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@bijouxbroussard I know of the show, but never watched it myself. Interesting though, I didn't know there was an actual family on which the show was based.

@FreddieUK Yes, the Cowsills consisted of 6 siblings and their widowed mother. When the Partridge Family show was being proposed, reportedly the Cowsills themselves were considered, but by that time were "too old" for the roles.

I wasn't born until 1972 but I've heard all those songs on the jukebox in the pub where my daughter works. I'd heard "Dizzy" on the radio before.

Before mine.... The only one I've actually huuurd prior, Sugar Sugar.... soundtrack in a film. What I can say however, goin' 'back'.... Is that you have some cool az' eclectic music taste. 😎

@Punxi Thank you ! 😃

Sugar sugar I particularly remember. My dad loved that song fire since reason, it wasn't his usual thing which is why it sticks in my head I suppose.

I remember most of them. I didn't consider "Incense and Peppermints" to be bubblegum; I thought it was psychedelic and trippy!

So far, Sugar Sugar, almost the one I remember in the OP's list, seems crowd favourite. :-)
Doesn't say much for the others.
Ironically there was no real band called "The Archies". The song, in all its fluffy poppiness, was performed by session musicians.

The only one I loved and still love, is "Incense and Peppermints". I kind of like all of them now, though, because of the memories.

The one I remember best is Sugar Sugar.
Thanks for the walk down nostalgia lane

I remember them well -- though I never thought of "Dizzy" as "Bubblegum", and definitely never considered "Incense and Peppermints" as "Bubblegum".
bijouxbroussard · F
@ChipmunkErnie Another poster’s take on that song, too. Possibly I was just remembering it from the same time period.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@bijouxbroussard "Dizzy" might be a bit Pop-ish, but "Incense and Peppermints" is considered classic psychedelic rock, I think.
craig7 · 70-79, M
Yes,I remember them all - definitely not "before my time"!

1967, quite a year. Lots of that music...and me!
bijouxbroussard · F
@uncalled4 I can remember writing that year on a school paper. 😳
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard I didn't arrive till November. No writing in 67. Or 68, most likely!
