The Better Craftsperson #5. Alice Cooper

Vincent Damon Furnier (born February 4, 1948), known by his stage name Alice Cooper, is an American rock singer whose career spans six decades. With a raspy voice and a stage show that features numerous props and stage illusions, Cooper is considered by music journalists and peers to be "The Godfather of Shock Rock". He has drawn from horror films, vaudeville, and garage rock to pioneer a macabre and theatrical brand of rock designed to shock audiences.

He has a long history of philanthropy and supporting charitable causes, notably the Solid Rock Teen Centers which he founded to help underprivileged youth. Beyond his own non-profit, he has supported numerous other charities including the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the ANNIKA Foundation, and various artists' and peace-focused organizations. Cooper is also known for his personal advocacy for sobriety and his faith, which he has spoken about extensively, and he teaches a local Bible class.
