Modern v "Old School" singing in opera

I've been going through some videos on the subject. TRying to hear the differences. After a few goes, I think I am beginning to tell the differences. Here is one example....

@MethDozer Ask the person who compiled the video. I wouldn't have thought so, either, but I think the point is that pople love powerful singing, no matter what type o music it is, rather than "singers" mumbling through....
