What bands have really changed music since Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Pixies, Rage, and the Chili Peppers?

(Forgive me for completely ignoring hip-hop, I’ve tried). The early-mid 90s was it. Then poof.

Dia Lupa is good though. Although her talents could be better utilized in a better genre.

@BijouPleasurette

Yes, her voice is great.

@calicuz So why shouldn't she go down in history?
calicuz · 51-55, M
@BijouPleasurette

because her music as a whole is not that great. IMHO of course.

None that I can think of. No great bands after Oasis. That's why we're still seeing bands like the Rolling Stones, with 80-year-old men in it, selling out stadiums but not much from newer bands.

@BijouPleasurette Agree to disagree. I like how they came out of a messed up family (the father beat the crap out of Noel and the older brother Paul but apparently not Liam) but they made something of themselves.
BijouPleasurette · 36-40, F
@graphite That's as maybe, they are still crap.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@graphite @graphite You can’t deny those the mega hits. Massive albums of the 90s!
RileyLandS · 41-45, M
you're missing out on lots of great newer bands. you look like a rocker with the bands you mentioned. Check out Fallout Boy, Gretta Van Fleet, Imagine Dragons, Lumineers, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Blink 182, and the Killers
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@RileyLandS Thanks for the recommendations.
BijouPleasurette · 36-40, F
I don't like those bands anyway. I love 90s dance music and R&B.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@BijouPleasurette Different strokes😜. Have you seen that 90s Euro dance music parody, Planet of the Bass?

@Bumbles I have now. Lol :)
calicuz · 51-55, M
It's true, there's no "soul" left in music.
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@calicuz And Guns n’ Roses. While not exactly original, they were what hard rock can and should be. That first album is just insane.
calicuz · 51-55, M
@Bumbles

Even G&R used Rhythm and Blues to create their unique sound.

All I know is Nirvana and chilli peppers. Hip hop was good back then but whatever it calls itself now is trash. Most music nowadays sounds like junkies with a mic. Singing while high AF
@empanadas so much. If you saw some of the stuff I find, you’d be tripping. There’s good music still, you just got to really look for it.
calicuz · 51-55, M
@DarkHeaven @empanadas

That's true, I find more new bands, and good ones, on YouTube, than I do on radio these days.
@calicuz radio kinda blows unless you got a super good radio station like KEXP-FM out of Seattle.
