#1 The Father - August Strindberg (1887)

The Father at the Betty Nansen Teatret in Copenhagen in 1918. Peter Fjelstrup as The Captain and Thilda Fønss as Bertha.

My keeping track of the plays being read begins officially here. There's always been a mystique with this dramatist, for being Ingmar Bergman's most treasured literary hero, and how marital strife is shown in such a significant way, with this play i finally get a taste of his battleground aesthetic, the wife is trying to get a doctor to deem her husband insane and and so forth, and he's like a poster child for misogyny. It's pretty good, i believe it's in 3 acts and i'm about at the end of the 2nd act, i like to blab about things midstream so to speak as i'm in the middle of it, because that's when i feel like saying something about it, when finished i rush towards the next thing.

I hope to average at least 1 play a day for this year starting tomorrow (311 plays), as an exercise in fun!!

@bookerdana Thefirst time I heard this,I thought ,Did this dude really write a song about a walk??😱

But it really is about so much besides that,he was a master storyteller

@bookerdana Has a serene feeling, like maybe walking away from a enclosed place, how the outdoors can be freeing.
