I like this song, but it brings back memories of a guy I shared a room with in the Army in South Korea along with two other Korean soldiers and the guy's life circumstance's drove him crazy literally.

He joined the Army to get away from his family's cult that his parents created in Oregon. His wife and two kids were supposed to leave the cult and move to an Amy base and wait for him while he served in Korea for his one-year tour of duty. The wife never left the cult and actually started to act like his father's second wife. Divorce papers were sent to him while in Korea when this song came out and he shared his life story with me. I tried to be supportive of him. But when our Korean roommates put a South Korean flag on the wall in our room, he tore it down and posted up an American flag in its place. When the Koreans and I returned to the room, the friend/roommate was drunk and when the Koreans asked why their flag was torn down and thrown on the floor and the American flag hung in its place. He jumped up and pulled his combat knife out and I had to play peace maker for the rest of the night. Being the senior ranking person in the room I was responsible for the conduct of the roommates too.

The next morning, I was in front of the platoon Sergeant and Lieutenant to work out new roommate arrangements, so no one got stabbed. And I chose a different set of roommates.

The lean on me song was played back-to-back over and over again by my disgruntled friend until it nearly drove every one of the 36 platoon members mad. The platoon sergeant asked me if he need to go home on compassionate leave. I said bad idea because he confided in me, he would take out his family if he went home. So, off to the psychologist's he went. He was never the same when he came back, he just sat and played lean on me over and over while getting drunk.

So, this song hits a nerve inside of me where I cannot enjoy it. Not the songs' fault it is a great song, just my circumstances with it are bothersome to me.
