The forecasters keep calling for us to have rain, it never comes. It is hot and muggy, we need rain. This morning at 9 AM it was already 88F!

@samueltyler2 same in parts of UK

@meggie my son lives 20 minutes, by car, from us. He had a thunderstorm, we had nothing. I hope you are okay despite the heat. Our apartment is air conditioned, I know a lot of the UK is not. I worked on London in 1967 and vacationed there a few years ago, there are still many places without A/C and no ice in drinks.

@samueltyler2 i have never known it so dry and hot here for so long. I only have air conditioning in the car and office, so better off than many people. You only get ice in your drink if you ask for it here.

@meggie I remember in 1967, I was doing a rotation at St Thomas Hospital in London. I was staying at a B and B. It was so hot, and if i wanted ice for my room, i had to bargain with a local fish monger.

@samueltyler2 the supermarkets sell it here but when we get hot weather they run out of it. Some of the london B&B have tiny little attic windows and get very hot.

@meggie our last trip to London was during a heat wave, we went to theater and they were not air conditioned. They were hot as hell!

@samueltyler2 yes a lot of places here aren't air conditioned. It is unlikely we will get any rain for a couple of weeks at least. It will affect the crops here badly. Still some are really enjoying rhe weather as the summers here can be pretty bad some years.

@meggie food prices are already too high, the drought will make things even worse! There are lakes and reservoirs that are drying up. Climate change must be dealt with!
meggie · F
@samueltyler2 yes food prices in many countries have rocketed. Still very hard to get q doctors appointment here too. I hope things get better soon. It all seems doom and gloom at the moment.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@meggie it is indeed frightening. I was a physician, I am retired. I don't think the problem getting appointments are related to climate change.
