How long has it been since you heard this Johnny Cash song?

Cry Cry Cry
There is not much of a back story to this song that I can find.

In 1954, before the release of the song “Cry! Cry! Cry!”, Cash signed with Sun Records after he came home from serving with the United States Air Force.
During that time, he wrote the song “Hey, Porter” which was not catchy to the executives at his record label.
But he was told to come back with a song that Sun Records owner, Sam Phillips, would be able to sell. Cash went home and wrote the song “Cry! Cry! Cry!” overnight.
He then came back and performed it to Phillips the following day.
His first hit after he served in the United States Air Force.

The song is about a woman loved by a man, but the woman wants more and goes out every night in the hopes of finding a sugar daddy.
As she ages, and the bright lights dim, she is left all alone and tries to go back to the man who loves her.
He rejects her and tells her why.
When he reminds her of all she has done, she'll cry, cry, cry.

A few months ago. Joaquin Phoenix did a cover on this song and it is really good.

As a matter of fact I heard it yesterday and the day before and probably the day before that. LOL
My room mate made me a disc of Johnny Cash and Elvis and both cry, cry, cry and Hey porter are on it. :-)

@Dainbramadge Freaky hey. What are the odds of me posting a Johnny Cash song such as Cry Cry Cry and you listening to it regularly on your play list? 🙂

@Gusman LOL. I know right. And you also mentioned that Hey porter too. Was skipping that one, I must say, but it has grown on me. :-)
This was a good post. I LOVE Johnny.
