Do you Listen to the Radio while You Drive?

Or do you like peace and quiet? If you listen to the radio, what is your favorite driving music?
AbbeyRhode · F
If I'm alone, always. Music lifts my mood. I listen to oldies music. My son is trying to teach me to use Spotify, so I can listen to specific songs or playlists.
Slade · 56-60, M
@Thinkerbell There are sooooooooo many. Can't be Leo since he's always with the large and lovelies. That wouldn't even reach through the flaps!
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@Slade

A lefty was once near collapse,
Cuz he COULDN'T get past his love's flaps.
And try as he might,
His d*ck was too slight,
So he finally gave up, and just faps.
Slade · 56-60, M
@Thinkerbell and spreads verbal spooge here!

Excellent again!
I guess it depends on my mood. I used to listen to music while I drove but anymore I like the quiet.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Yes I do, mostly the oldies station.
@cherokeepatti Me too.
calicuz · 51-55, M
I don't have a radio in my work car so it's lots of time to think and reflect for me to and from work. My other car has a radio and I'm usually listening to the 80s station.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@calicuz sometimes i don't want any sound. i like the quietness.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Yes, usually BBC Radio Three; playing mainly but not only so-called "classical" music. Actually anything from Early via Classical to Contemporary plus some jazz and folk; and some speech programmes. It is a friendly station too, whose presenters welcome, treat and respect you as a reasonably intelligent grown-up - of any age from 10 to 100+.

Sometimes selected programmes on Radio Four but they are speech not music, difficult to hear properly in a moving car. Anyway I concentrate on the driving, not the radio.

I avoid pop or rock. Although I like the earlier styles of the former, and heavy rock, I prefer something gentler when driving.

With no CD or other music player in the car I rely on the wireless (surprisingly for a relatively modern car it has a radio / cassette unit, but I have few playable tapes); but I cannot abide the stress-raising, patronising inanity of daytime pop channels.

If nothing takes my fancy on the radio at the time, I do not switch it on!

Same at home too: I can live without it if necessary or if, unusually, nothing attracts me at the time. I listen selectively, using the Radio Times as the only listings magazine as far as I know, publishing any useful information on radio programmes. (Though even then, most of it covers TV.)
Slade · 56-60, M
Usually the First Wave and the Blues station on Serious. Occasionally I do like to turn it off to hear the engine
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Slade I had Sirius XM on my new car and i had to have a guide to find out where stuff is. listening to the Beatles now
Slade · 56-60, M
@akindheart I virtually only listen to those stations or a live sporting event. It's cool you can use either team's broadcast
Yes always. I can't drive without music. I like Christian music, so I listen to K-Love and MARS Hill Network.
Clasic Vinyl on sxm - 60's/70's rock, is my new favorite station. Its on when ever im listening to music.

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User I used to do that when I worked a night job, some interesting topics.
IM5688 · 61-69, M
Always have the radio on in the car. I listen to mostly classic rock 99% of the time. However, on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon I sometimes listen to a couple of the shows on NPR. (1. Wait,Wait, Don't Tell Me. 2. Ted Talks. 3. The Moth radio Hour.)
akindheart · 61-69, F
@IM5688 ted talks!!
bowman81 · M
I listen to the radio, mostly classic rock. I also have become a fan of audio books. I will "read"(listen) while I drive particularly when I am going to be on the road for an hour or more.
Music. I listen to a London radio station. If I have trouble concentrating on the road, I may turn the music down low or even off. How about you?
akindheart · 61-69, F
@PoetryNEmotion i don't listen to any because i like the solitude. but I figured out Sirius XM and i am now listening to the Beatles
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M

ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@akindheart BBC Radio 4 is talk radio for grown ups (a little like NPR), The Economist is a famous British weekly current affairs magazine that produces podcasts related to its print version, Radio Caroline used to be one of the most important pirate radio stations broadcasting from a ship in the North Sea in the 1960s, now it's legal.
