I stopped liking it with the advent of "gangsta" rap and the "n" word in every set of lyrics. 🤨

@bijouxbroussard i could be wrong but rap generated itself from the funk genre...and that genre had some class...i know what you're saying though... but as far as black/african/reggae and good 'ol rock n roll we wouldn't be where we are without say artists like bob marley, little richard,...i could go on and on but you get the gist...my brother met tina turner...said she was one classic lady...a gem.

@beermeplease In the 70s groups like The Last Poets and artists like Gil Scott-Heron recited poetry to music; which was kind of the precursor to what would become rap ("Spoken Word" genre). This was something I remember listening to when it came out in 1971:

@SW-User Same, because all of a sudden there was no room for any other voices in the rap genre.
