From "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" Jimi Hendrix (1968)

I didn't mean to take you up all your sweet time
I'll give it right back to you one of these days

I said, I didn't mean to take up all your sweet time
I'll give it right back one of these days, yeah

And if I don't meet you no more in this world
Then I'll, I'll meet you in the next one
Now don't be late, don't be late

'Cause I'm a voodoo child, voodoo child
Lord knows I'm a voodoo child, hey, hey, hey

And if I don’t see you no more ever again, I’ll see you in the next world, so don’t be late don’t be late!
I stole that line from him when saying long goodby’s to important love ones and dear.
It’s used so in circles that one person stats it and the other follows the finish.
And that’s clearly classic
@Briggett I had a black light poster of him in the 70s with those lyrics on it. Pop bought it for me right after Hendrix’ passing.

@bijouxbroussard favorite song by him is The cries mary

Well, I stand up next to a mountain
And I chop it down with the edge of my hand
Well I pick up all pieces and make an island
Might even raise a little sand
Yeah

This is my favourite part.

Good God almighty!!! That is iconic and in my top 10 favorite tracks ever. When I drop the stylus on that track, the volume goes up!!
You have great taste in music @bijouxbroussard 💜💜💜

Voodoo Chile..the 15 minute version which appears earlier on the album is amazing. Slight return is good too.

Was listening to that only yesterday
Are we talking about the same tune? Voodoo Chile the slow blues that’s 15 minutes. Or the more familiar Voodoo Child (Slight Return)?
@BlueSkyKing Both are on the same album and your post is titled for the former.
@BlueSkyKing Corrected. We good ? 🤨
@bijouxbroussard The album as a whole is outstanding. Checkout Stevie Ray Vaughan's version of Little Wing. A short Hendrix tune that SRV works and extends.

I like Stevie Ray Vaughan's cover. It's intense.
@uncalled4 I just listened to it for the first time. Very impressive.

@bijouxbroussard He does it proud. You can see he was a huge fan. I play it LOUD through huge PA speakers, and the snare sound can probably slice off your eyebrows. Big 80s style drum sound, but it works here. It's like a meteor hitting the Earth.
