@Whyme haha...yep, definitely a cult.
Whyme · 46-50, M
@Punxi 4 sure lol

@Punxi Hmm, 🤔 Now this "dinner" thing you mention. Isn't that when families sit at the table and eat while spending really awkward "quality" time? Like maybe the food really is good but still hard to eat because one is just waiting for awkward stuff to be brought up?

When my step sister and I were kids, instead of calling it "supper" we called it "suffer".

@CestManan Haha! My sister and I are identical twins. Shes the married, kids and picket fence. I hibernate, read books an work at a bar lol. My folks enjoy their empty nest, but family dinners these days are pretty much summed up with laughter an extreme sarcasm 🤷‍♀️

@Punxi I wasn't sure if you were staying with them.
My step sister is the same as your sis. Married, kids, picket fence, whatever.

I am actually the step child of their family, haven;t interacted with them much since January 2011.
They had got on my nerves for the final time and as I drove home in a damned snow storm I thought, "Never again."

@CestManan Wow. Props to you for taking the step towards less toxicity in your life. Much respect.

My grandmother was an orphan. Raised on a farm in Ohio. Grew up picking fruit while her "siblings" played. Ran away at 17 and never looked back ethier.

Her strength is fuled in my sister and I. But naw...we all found it better to put a good mile between us lol.

@Punxi There comes a point when one finally decides a situation isn't worth it.

My step sister, back in 2006 when she was 28 and I was 32, we started talking again because I had moved back to my home state. I thought, "We are a bit older now, more mature, etc."
It didn't take long before I was reminded why we had not gotten along before. She made a snide comment about something and I thought, "Oh yeah, this is why we never got along before."

Step mom isn't bad but kind of awkward. Tries to sound wiser than what she really is.
Step dad is... how many pages should i spend writing about how weird he is?
Punxi · 26-30, F
@CestManan Absolutely agree.

That certainly sounds like some way deep bitter emotions she let surface. You certainly need no sympathy from anyone. Id much rather tell ya how I'm empowered by how you embrace it.

Best way Ive found to lighten that baggage.

@Punxi Around my step sister, one cannot even say the word "Karen". One has to call it "The K word" so she doesn't get upset.
