I noticed you're on a bit of a Orbital remix theme recently, were you a fan of Orbital J?

@AdaXI That’s so interesting and impressive that you know your history. I was definitely into the Chemical Brothers in the mid 90’s especially Exit Planet Dust (1995)
Dig Your Own Hole (1997)
which hit hard for me. I’m not sure why but I didn’t connect well with Prodigy although I was exposed to them plenty too.
I need to get some of these old mixtape’s and “mixtape” CDs that my friend made me and find out what I was listening to because it was all her favorites and it included a variety of Chicago deep dish house music Detroit style house New York and Philadelphia and New Jersey style party music. It was really fun to listen to it and my friends that I grew up with got into it and they loved it and bought new music because of it. I went to a few parties in San Francisco and Oakland but it wasn’t until 1997 and people said it was much different in the early 90’s. I just found it exciting to get the phone number and the directions which were not usually available until the hour before the venue was announced and then the after party scene was pretty fun. I remember going to a place called “The End Up. Such a fitting name for a place that everyone seemed to frequent at one time or another and at one point in their evenings/mornings. I don’t know if it’s still there but I would assume so.

@Badjujubee Yeah it's a difficult one to explain as they all started in the underground rave scene during the acid house movement but moved to studio work later on. Prodigy were like the leaders of rave music and their mostly more like power beats. Probably more influenced by punk music than anything else.

Prodigy and Chem Bros do meet up in their styles though around the mid 90s as Techno Rock and Big Beat took off so 'Dig Your Own Hole' by Chem Bros and 'Fat of the Land' by the Prodigy are both considered Techno Rock and Block Rockin Beats and Firestarter are the two major hitting dance tracks of that define that movement. Block Rockin Beats has more old skool rave elements too it while Firestarter by the Prodigy is more punk laced.

All these acts though Aphex, Orbital, Chem Bros and the mighty Prodigy are considered Gods in this country for their contributions to dance music.

But yes winding the clock back a little that's how the underground rave scene worked over here in the later 80s early 90s. People would get a phone call with directions an hour or so before a rave would start it was half the buzz.

Sadly not something I ever experienced but I grew up listening to all the albums you mentioned by Chem Bros and all of Prodigy's studio work. Later on I found a lot of the underground rave music from the beginning of the movement on You Tube and Mixcloud.

@Badjujubee Oh and i will say Chicago, Detroit, disco. rap, etc, it all played a massive part. It influenced the UK scene in a major way and it's probably more noticeable in Chem Bros and Orbital but yeah American dance music played a major role, nearly all these acts will say it influenced them in a massive way.

@BlueGreenGrey longer format songs are so enjoyable because they sustain the feeling longer… 🎧☺️😊
@Badjujubee absolutely ... and whether short or long there are some things I can also just listen to over and over in a loop
