"Only You (And You Alone)" – The Platters

[media=https://youtu.be/rAUJSc6unAg]
Video of The Platters performing “Only You (And You Alone)” in the 1956 film, Rock Around the Clock.

This doo-wop tune was the first hit song for the acclaimed vocal group, reaching #1 on the U.S. R&B chart and #5 on the U.S. pop chart after its release in 1955.

“Only You (And You Alone)” was composed by producer/songwriter/arranger Buck Ram, who also played the piano on The Platters’ recording. The song has proved to be an enduring classic and has been covered by many performers over the years.

There was a half decade where The Platters just dominated the charts and could do no wrong. It is one of a handful of doo wop groups of which I know the names of all the members, including of course Tony Williams as lead.

@LamontCranston That's impressive, knowing the names of all the original members. I doubt if most people today know any of their names.
