Some irony. The first American wave of Cowboys in the west were predominantly black, leter pushed aside after the civil war...😷
@whowasthatmaskedman Indeed. But when kids are not taught about black history in the U.S., people grow up not knowing about it.

@bijouxbroussard But some guy who has only visited a few times can find this stuff out. So its not a state secret. Americans really do need to understand their history has warts in places. Like maybe they will look at whats happening in Gaza differently when they learn how the white people bombed and burned the black people out of Tulsa in the early 20s to get the land for themselves.😷
@whowasthatmaskedman Like I said, without it being taught about (and states like Texas and Florida don’t really want it discussed), people grow up not knowing about it. Someone interested in learning about it can definitely find out, but that’s just it—there’s generally no interest, and finding out would go against a certain narrative.

@bijouxbroussard And I think you may have hit it in the head. So many Americans are not curious about things outside their tiny patch. So few have passports. So few want to expand their depth..Its all about them and now...😷
@whowasthatmaskedman That’s sad but unfortunately true,
I hear people say that immigrants are successful while blacks are not because (they say) black people are "undriven" (read "lazy"). They don’t realize that some immigrants do have family money, and when they don’t they often are able to receive grants and loans where blacks are denied.

Burnings of established black neighborhoods or properties because whites wanted the land, were numerous. My grandfather was a shoemaker, his shoe shop and repair business (which he shared with a sister who made hats) was burned down by the Klan because people of all races worked there together—a no-no back then.

@bijouxbroussard That's a great picture. Reminds me of Lawman: Bass Reeves I watched on Paramount +.
@OverTheHill Yes ! About someone who actually lived.
