I used to hear the first 20 seconds of this every day, and this is the first time I have ever seen an orchestra perform it.
To me, it was always the ABC News introduction music.
Most times we never take any notice of themes.

We listen to them but give no thought about how those themes actually come t fruition.

The tune was written by a British composer in 1943 and was picked up by ABC in the fifties.
