Rick Davies RIP

Sad to hear the news that Rick Davies has passed away.

I first heard Supertramp in 1974 and instantly fell in love with their music and bought all the albums.

Crime of the Century is still my favourite of theirs just a brilliant album throughout every track.

Thanks for the memories, the inspiration and the music Rick.

I remember this band did a world tour in 1979 and by November, they'd got to the South of France and appeared at Avignon, which was near enough to where I was living at the time. I went to one of the Avignon gigs - needless to say it was packed: brilliant atmosphere! 'When you go home tonight, take the long way home' RIP Rick!

@supersnipe I saw them on the Crisis What Crisis tour and on the 79 world tour that was forever immortalised with the Paris recording.

I fortunately also went to see them on the 40th Anniversary tour in 2010 although by then long after the classic lineup had gone just Rick, Jon and Bob with Cliff Hugo and Carl Verheyen and others. But they never toured again as Rick was diagnosed with multiple myeloma just before the 2015 tour and that was then cancelled.

"Crime of the Century" is a brilliant album! Perfectly bridging the gap between progressive rock and pop rock. I love it, especially "School", and the title song.
